Received 12/17/1970. George Meany was President AFL-CIO with a long storied history in the US labor movement. As the letter notes, he painted for a hobby. According to Wikipedia, he also took up amateur photography, so he has those in common with both my father and me.
Note also the pipefitter reference in the letter.
